BEACH TENNIS UK TEAM

Beach Tennis UK has been set up by local Brighton born former Wimbledon and WTA tour player Julie Salmon and Kasia Chmielewska from Pure Alpine and Pure Tennis Holidays who both have a real passion for the sport.

Dans_Wedding_me.jpgJulie Salmon - a former top Great Britain Tennis Player who played on the WTA Tour for 12 years and also played 12 consecutive years at Wimbledon. Julie reached the third round on two occasions and a centre court performance against Steffi Graf.

She has represented Great Britain in the Federation Cup,
European Cup and Wightman Cup. During the Wightman Cup versus USA she performed in front of the Queen at the Royal Albert Hall. As a junior she was selected to play for Great Britain at U14 level and has played at every level through to the present day for GB Vets.

Julie has competed regularly against Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Billie Jean King and Hana Mandlikova. She has played in all the major arenas around the World  including the Centre Court at Wimbledon, Arthur Ashe Stadium Court at the US Open, Flushing Meadow and the Rod Laver Stadium court in Australia.

kasia_chmielewska.jpgKasia Chmielewska  - Director of Pure Alpine and Pure Tennis Holidays has been involved in the tourism industry for over 20 years and specialises in sports tourism organising skiing and tennis holidays to Europe and in the UK. 

Over the years Kasia has been involved in a number of events including sponsoring Save the Children Community and Corporate Tennis tournaments.  Kasia has skied and played tennis since a very young age and regularly plays for her club team.  Since trying out Beach Tennis she has been hooked on the sport.


richard_walmsley_copy.jpgRichard Walmsley - Founding Director of specialist tennis consultancy Tie-Break Ltd. First loved tennis as a child, becoming Sussex county champion at junior and senior level, and then Mens County Captain. At Vets level has represented the country having won national doubles titles on grass and clay, and recently reached No 17 in the world over 45 on the ITF singles rankings.

In business, has held senior roles with AEGON and Pru before switching career to sports consultancy.  In 2009 became Chairman of The AEGON International ATP & WTA event at Eastbourne.  Believes that Beach Tennis is a fantastic lifestyle sport for everyone, from complete beginners, to serious competitors. Its great for tennis skills, and great for fitness.  Once you try it, you're addicted!  Extremely proud to have reached the semi-finals of the Beach Tennis UK launch event in Brighton in April 2011!
