About Beach Tennis UK

Beach Tennis UK (BTUK) is a Brighton based non-profit volunteer-run organisation founded in 2011 by Kasia Chmielewska and Julie Salmon (former British No1 tennis player). Since its inception, BTUK has been running regular club sessions in their home city of Brighton.

One of our many highlights was organising and managing the 2013-2014 European Beach Tennis Championships for the LTA, which took place in Brighton, bringing players to the city from all over Europe.

Although resources and funds are limited BTUK has worked hard over the last 12 years to grow British Beach Tennis by bringing the sport to other areas of the UK.  This has been achieved through running many Open Days, Taster Sessions, Regular Play Sessions and Tournaments.  There is still a lot of work to be done in developing the sport in the UK.

In 2018/2019 BTUK was awarded a grant from Paddle Round the Pier for coaching and safeguarding, which has helped develop the sport further.  BTUK has also partnered up the Grace Eyre Foundation to provide Disability Beach Tennis and with Tennis Sussex to provide various Beach Tennis activities, which has been very successful.

In 2020 we are celebrated 10 years of Beach Tennis in the UK (in between lockdowns).  The first-ever session taking place in Yellowave, Brighton in October 2010!

What some happy Beach Tennis Players say:

"Beach tennis has been a very sociable sport to take up - quick to get a handle on but with a rewarding learning curve over the course of many months - Beach Tennis UK has helped bring the sport to new participants such as myself and has me coming back time and again whenever the weather allows!"
